Dental implants are an excellent method of permanently replacing missing and/or severely damaged teeth. When teeth require extensive repair, and are unable even to receive a crown, bridge, or artificial tooth, then dental implants are probably necessary. Custom-designed from titanium or a similar metal, the dental implant is inserted into the jawbone, effectively creating an artificial root which can accept further restorative dentistry treatments such as a dental bridge.
If there is limited jawbone healthy enough to accept an implant, then a second type of dental implant is available. Rather than inserting the implant into the jawbone, a special metal framework is designed and anchored on top of the bone. Both forms of implant dentistry are done in our office using local anesthesia or sedation dentistry.
If your dentures have a tendency to slip, wobble, or cause discomfort, MDI treatment can put an end to your frustration. The procedure is performed under anesthesia, and can be completed in a single day.
Using a tiny drill, our dental surgeon will make small insertions along the jawbone and place the implants inside. After the implants are inserted, your dentures will be retrofitted with special metal casings that fasten on to the implants. Finally, the dentures are returned to your mouth and locked into place, assuring a secure and accurate fit.
